Thousands of people were in Exeter this afternoon for the city's pride parade. It's the ninth annual event of its kind, and the biggest in Devon celebrating lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender communities.

Exeter Pride has become famous for its rainbow flag procession and this year the flag was bigger than ever before - a hundred metres long, and proudly paraded through the city centre this lunchtime.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police say there was "an excellent turnout" for the event. With Chief Constable Shaun Sawyer throwing his support to the event saying people should be able to celebrate "who they are":

The party continued this afternoon with live music on stage from Joss Stone, and an appearance by Gogglebox star Sandy.

Earlier today Joss Stone took to social media to say how "excited" she was to be taking part.

This is the ninth Exeter Pride event and we're told an even bigger party is planned to celebrate the tenth anniversary next year.
