Up to ten thousand people are expected to descend on a picturesque village in Somerset on Easter Monday for the annual Mells Daffodil Festival.

Organisers are laying on free buses from Frome and Radstock for the first time, in the hope of reducing problems with traffic and parking.

The event, which is now in its 38th year, will be officially opened by Marc Allum from the Antiques Roadshow at 11am. Marc has a wide range of expertise including antiquities, Georgian glassware, The Grand Tour and all things strange. Whether daffodils are considered odd or not, he will be giving a talk on the history of the daffodil in St Andrew's Church.

There will be 120 different street stalls and some very traditional village show events - including a Town Crier competition, a dog show, ferret racing, birds of prey, a tug of war, as well as classic cars and open gardens.
