The council has begun the process of ripping out a controversial playground in Horfield, Bristol.

The multi use game area (MUGA) had been a source of much tension after some locals complained of the high levels of noise coming from the playground.

The council announced its plans to close the playground in February, however they did say they would be speaking to local people about both sides before coming to a final decision.

After being unable to attend a recent community meeting, the council says a court order means that today (March 17) is the deadline for them to tear down the playground.
