Petition launched for Colston Hall name change
A petition is gathering momentum to change the name of Bristol's oldest concert venue, to remove its association with a notorious slave trader.
The Colston Hall is named after Edward Colston, who gave much of his fortune to the city.
The petition comes after last month's call from campaigners to review the venue's name.
The Hall is due to celebrate its 150th anniversary later this year.
Instead, the petition makers wants to create a permanent display or plaque near the entrance of the Hall about Colston.
The Trust have said they will review the name as part of the redevelopment scheme due to finish in 2020.
