Police have said they're "looking for bodies" at the former home of double murderer Christopher Halliwell.

It's one of two properties in Swindon being searched based on "new intelligence".

Forensic officers arrived at the scene early on Tuesday and are helping to dig up the garden. The operation is expected to last for five days.

Wiltshire Police say they have never searched the exterior of the Broad Street property before:

Christopher Halliwell, a Swindon taxi driver, was jailed for a whole life term, after being found guilty of murdering Becky Godden last year.

The 52 year-old was already serving a life sentence for murdering Sian O'Callaghan, who was abducted on her way home from a night out in Swindon.

Halliwell confessed to killing Ms O'Callaghan and took police to her body before offering "another one" and leading them to where he had buried missing sex worker Becky Godden several years earlier.

However, he later denied the murder of Becky Godden and following a trial in which Halliwell defended himself, it took a jury at Bristol Crown Court less than three hours to find him guilty.

The former detective who helped catch Halliwell claims there are another six victims. Steve Fulcher, who gambled and lost his job in his bid to convict the serial killer, points to the eight year gap between the murders of Becky Godden and Sian O'Callahan.

He believes Christopher Halliwell has, in total, killed eight people:
