Meet the UK's youngest town crier - and she's shouting about Falmouth

At 33, Gemma Garwood is the youngest town crier in the UK.

She's been in the Falmouth role since March 2016, and quite literally shouts the town's praises whilst walking around making people smile.

Town criers can be traced back to Medieval times. Their job was to make public announcements, in the loudest voice possible.

But Gemma's keen to breathe new life into the ancient tradition.

Gemma has now reached the finals of VisitEngland’s Tourism Superstar 2017 competition.

She is one of ten finalists selected from nominations from across the country.

The winning Tourism Superstar will be announced during English Tourism Week 2017 (25 March - 2 April).
