Wartime "flares" exploded on building site in Wiltshire
An Explosive Ordnance Disposal team detonated a number of wartime incendiary devices found in Trowbridge.
The glass bottles - believed to be wartime flares - were unearthed on a building site near John of Gaunt School in Wingfield Road on Wednesday afternoon, 8 February.
The builders called in the emergency services and a cordon was set up and the army experts called in from Tidworth.
This video was captured by Trowbridge Fire Station:
The team carried out a controlled explosion late last night - it was delayed when it became apparent that there were far more devices than first thought.
Dorset Fire and Rescue Service warned people to stay away due to ther large amount of smoke generated. People in the area were told to stay inside with doors and windows shut.
