Notorious yellow car vandalised in picturesque village

An "ugly" bright yellow car blamed for ruining the view in one of the country's most picturesque villages has been targeted by vandals.

The word "move" has been scratched into the bonnet of the Vauxhall Corsa, which is parked outside a 14th century cottage in the Cotswold village of Bibury.

The driver's side window and rear windscreen were also smashed.

Owner Peter Maddox became the source of some controversy in 2015 when visitors complained that the car was wrecking the classic English scenery.

The retired dentist insisted he had nowhere else to park and continued leaving his car on the road - until it was vandalised.

The costs of the repairs could make the car a write-off.

But, the 84 year old says that if it turns out to be too expensive to repair, he would buy a replacement - in lime green.

Many villagers say they are "disgusted" by the crime.
