Police are appealing for witnesses after an 87-year-old woman was robbed and injured in Bristol.

The incident took place on January 22 on Radley Road, Fishponds.

At approximately 4.45pm, the victim was walking home when a man ran up behind her and snatched her handbag - a white cotton bag with turtles on the front.

She fell to the floor during the robbery and dislocated her shoulder. She was also left with a number of cuts and bruises.

Police are searching for a slight white man, approximately 25-years-old, who was wearing all black.

Investigator Martin Hudd said: "This was a callous attack on an elderly woman who was attacked from behind."

The robbery occurred just one day before another robbery on an woman, 75, in Eastville Park.

At this stage, the police do not not believe that the two robberies are connected.
