Stranded car stuck in the mud on Burnham beach
A stranded 4x4 has been rescued after getting stuck in mud on Burnham beach.
Crews from BARB Search & Rescue and Burnham Coastguard were called to the Nissan Navarna near Maddock's Slade at 3.40pm on Sunday afternoon where it had become trapped in thick mud.
BARB's crew used spades and boards to try and free the vehicle, working alongside Burnham Coastguards, and a tractor was also called to pull out the vehicle.
Watch the rescue:
The owner from Bridgwater said he'd only had the vehicle for a couple of weeks.
Coastguard's are reminding the public that access to the specific areas of the beach is selective to those with permits.
BARB's Mark Newman added that, fortunately, the tide was going out at the time or the incident could have been more serious.
