An 8 year old girl from Devon who was given just a 10% chance of living a normal life when she was younger has beaten the odds after taking part in pioneering treatment.

Grace Hall is just like any other healthily 8 year old. But when she was a few months old she'd often start screaming in pain. Some people thought she was suffering from extreme hiccups but her parents Kilian and Emily thought otherwise.

They started filming the fits in a bid to show doctors what was happening,

The doctors eventually diagnosed Grace with a rare disease called West Syndrome and gave her just a 10% chance of living a normal life.

West Syndrome is a rare illness which affects one in 3,000 babies, 90% of which can go on to suffer mental and physical problems. So Grace was entered into a medical trial where she was given two drugs.

An anti-convulsant and a steroid that had been trialled separately, but never together. Within a few months she was well enough to come off the drugs - and hasn't suffered another fit.

Her case was recently featured in a medical journal and her parents released the video of her seizures in a bid to raise awareness.
