Chance to have your say on controversial Taunton pedestrianisation plans
Taunton Dean Borough Council are trying to pedestrianise some of the town's busiest roads.
Banning cars from East Street, Hammet Street and St James Street is part of the plan to cut the levels of pollution and make the town more friendly to pedestrians and cyclists.
However, not everybody is happy with the idea of banning cars from some of Taunton's busiest streets.
Over the past three years, East Street has experienced frequent pedestrianisation periods when the road was dug up for repair work.
There are concerns that banning cars on some major roads will force traffic onto peripheral streets, leading to gridlock at busy times.
Opportunities for members of the public to voice their opinions starts this week, and it seems like some love the idea, whilst others aren't so keen.
If the pedestrianisation does go ahead, the council may consider shutting North Street to cars too.
