Racist blogger jailed for harassing MP with anti-Semitic posts

Joshua Bonehill-Paine

A blogger from Yeovil, has been jailed for the maximum of twoyears at the Old Bailey for harassing Labour MP Luciana Berger in a string of anti-Jewish rants.

Joshua Bonehill-Paine, 24, was convicted for making five anti-Jewish posts about the Liverpool Wavertree MP, after far-right extremist Garron Helm was jailed in October 2014.

Helm had admitted sending an offensive tweet featuring a picture of Ms Berger with a Holocaust-era Star of David on her head and the hashtag "Hitler was right".

Over the next four months, Bonehill-Paine wrote that she was an "evil money-grabber" and compared her with a rodent, the Old Bailey has heard.

Ms Berger told jurors she felt "sick" at the posts and "very much under attack" during that period.

The defendant claimed his conduct fells within the boundaries of freedom of speech.
