Storm Angus soaks the West Country

The West Country has been peppered with severe flood warnings as heavy rain has caused rivers across the region to burst their banks.

The first of this winter's named storms - Storm Angus - brought heavy rain and strong winds to the region overnight and into the early hours of Sunday (20/11) morning.

Fallen trees and water on the road has caused traffic problems with a number of reported collisions and road closures.

North Devon has been worst affected by flooding.

People at a residential park in South Molton had to be evacuated when the nearby River Mole burst its banks.

. It's reported that the water at the Mill on the Mole residential park was up to 4 feet deep. By 6am the rain had stopped and people were able to return to their homes.

In Braunton and Bradiford roads were closed, properties were evacuated and businesses were affected by flood water.

In Braunton, Church Street was closed and a number of properties in the area were flooded. A local parish office was able to provide sandbags to help keep back the water.

In Bradiford crews had to pump water from the worst affected property.

There have been no reports of any flooded homes and water levels are receding - however residents are preparing for more bad weather over the coming days.
