Cheltenham Town turn to fans to help fund new scoreboard
Cheltenham Town have turned to their supporters and community to help raise money for a new scoreboard.
The club is aiming to raise £55,000 to install a new digital scoreboard at the LCI Rail Stadium.
It's decided the best way to raise the money is to crowdfund - or ask people to help in any way they can towards the cost - because it doesn't have the money to carry out the project itself.
The club say the new scoreboard will be a 'fitting tribute' to former director Colin Farmer who died earlier this year. He had got the ball rolling on the project before his death.
It will also be a source of revenue for the club through advertising and will aim to improve the matchday experience for supporters.
The previous scoreboard at the LCI Rail Stadium was a victim of bad weather in February 2014 and could not be repaired.
It's the first time a Football League club has asked for crowdfunding to complete improvements to its stadium like this.
Other clubs including Bath City and FC United of Manchester have previously raised hundreds of thousands of pounds for facilities and player budgets.

Robins Trust Chairman and Fan-elected Director Clive Gowing also voiced his support for the initiative:
