Actor donates The Chase winnings to Stroud charity
TV and film actor Keith Allen has astounded a Gloucestershire children's charity by handing over his share of a £71,000 win on ITV's 'The Chase.' He played the Sheriff of Nottingham in the TV series Robin Hood but there was no sign of that selfishness in real life.
Keith, TV presenter Matt Allwright, singer Stacey Solomon and newsreader Louise Minchin took on the game show's fierce opponent, The Governess Anne Hegerty, on Sunday night.
After a tense showdown the four-man team scooped £71,346 - giving each of them £17,836.50.
Staff and volunteers at the Allsorts charity, based in Keith's home town of Stroud, were stunned when he named it as his chosen charity at the very end of the programme.
In the competition, Keith banked £1,000 and secured his place alongside the three others for the final showdown.

Presenter Bradley Walsh introduced Mr Allen as a 'national treasure'. The Governess told him he was indeed a national treasure and she intended to bury him. She failed.
The money Keith won will help Allsorts support families across Gloucestershire who have children with disabilities and additional needs, providing youth clubs, family trips, inclusive sports, and specialist equipment.
