Yeovil & City promoted to WSL 1
Yeovil Ladies became the second West Country side to secure promotion to the top flight of Women's football with a 0-2 win away at London Bees. Kayleigh Green opened the scoring on 56 minutes, before substitute Nadia Lawrence cemented victory ten minutes from time.
The win guarantees Yeovil a top-two finish in Division Two, but they will have the chance to claim the Division Two title at home to Sheffield Ladies this weekend (Nov 6th).
They join Bristol City who had secured promotion a day earlier after a dramatic match against Everton. While City knew victory would send them up, Everton knew three points would keep them in the hunt for promotion.
The visitors took the lead through Claire Emslie before the half-hour mark before a penalty allowed Claudia Walker to coolly equalise for Everton.
Bristol City took the lead again in the second half when Millie Farrow latched onto a defensive error to slot home, before Emslie scored her second of the afternoon. Three points and promotion looked secure, until Danielle Turner pulled one back with five minutes remaining.
There was further drama to come as Everton were warded a penalty in stoppage time but Walker's spot kick was saved to ensure City returned to the top flight of Women's football.
