Taunton ready to emulate team of 1981 in FA Cup

Non league minnows Taunton Town hope to summon some FA Cup inspiration from the team of old this weekend when they try and make it through to the 1st round draw.

Should they beat Hemel Hempstead at home they'll be one of the lowest ranked clubs left in the famous competition.

It's a very long time since Taunton Town Football Club played in the FA Cup 1st round.

In fact, it's been some 35 years to be precise. We've blown the dust off the archive tapes and unearthed that footage.

Back in 1981 Taunton travelled to Swindon and the County Ground for the big cup tie and they put on quite a show.

After the team bus pulled up and the team signed some autographs they actually took the lead - Kevin Hains put The Peacocks in front. Swindon, playing in yellow, had several chances, and eventually pulled back two goals to progress to the second round.
