Giant bronze sculpture planned for Plymouth Theatre
A giant bronze sculpture inspired by Shakespeare's most brutal tragedy could soon tower over Plymouth.
Ambitious plans for a towering 23 ft sculpture outside the Theatre Royal Plymouth have been unveiled today.
Computer-generated images show how the imposing sculpture will dominate the Theatre’s main entrance.
The figure, posed in a wide-legged crouching stance and measuring nine-metres (30ft) wide, would mean visitors entering the Theatre would walk under its legs.
A planning application is being submitted to Plymouth City Council and, if approved, the statue could be in place by early 2018.
The Chief Executive of Theatre Royal Plymouth says the sculpture would create a unique landmark for the city and strengthen its cultural offering.
