Burst water main closes community hospital
A burst water main pipe has burst in at a hospital in Devon, causing it to close temporarily.
Axminster Community Hospital flooded after the pipe burst in the cellar. The Trust says flooding has caused some infrastructure damage, which has affected the hospital’s IT services and electricity supply. As a result, services at the hospital have been temporarily suspended.
Staff from the Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust have been working on site to resolve the situation, with support from Northern Devon Healthcare Trust and other partner agencies.
Firefighters have also been in attendance to assist with pumping out the water.
The flooding has even led to some appointments being cancelled for the rest of the week.
