Graphic content: man hospitalised after suspected spider bite

A man from Frome was hospitalised for three nights after a suspected spider bite.

Chris Whitlock, 57, was bitten on the back of his hand while working outdoors. What started as a red spot, quickly swelled into a giant flesh wound and doctors were forced to operate.

Mr Whitlock believes he was bitten by a false widow spider - which is the most venomous species in Britain.
