Carol Vorderman carries torch across Clifton Suspension Bridge to celebrate anniversary of air cadets
Carol Vorderman joined air cadets on the Clifton Suspension Bridge this morning to pass over a torch during a relay to celebrate the organisation's 75th anniversary.
Vorderman - who is the honorary ambassador of the cadets - took on the latest leg of a torch relay that has spanned the length and breadth of the country.
The torch is being carried on land, water and in the air by cadets between the ages of 12 and 19 over a six-week period.
Starting in John O'Groats and finishing in Cornwall, the torch has already been carried to prominent addresses such as Buckingham Palace, No.10 Downing Street and Blackpool Tower.
Vorderman and the air cadets also met George "Johnny" Johnson - "the last dambuster" - who is now 94 years old.
Mr. Johnson, who now lives in Bristol, was a bomb aimer during the daring raid - one of the most famous of the Second World War - on board the 617 Squadron's Lancaster bombers when they bombed German dams in the Ruhr valley.
He's the last surviving member of the crews involved in the mission which used revolutionary bouncing bombs to bring millions of gallons of water crashing down on essential armament factories.
Vorderman said it had been a busy torch relay so far but it was worth it to get young people joining the air cadets.
Earlier the torch visited another of Brunel's great achievements, the SS Great Britain which is also in Bristol.
The torch has also been flown in a vintage powered glider, canoed across the Great Western Dockyard and lifted up the Avon Gorge.
