Could this Bristol city centre bridge shut for good?
A campaign's been started to persuade Bristol City Council not to allow cars back on to an important bridge when it reopens after repairs.
The crossing at Prince Street was replaced by a temporary footbridge this time last year - now a petition is calling for it to remain for cyclists and pedestrians only.
It's a year now since this temporary footbridge was built across Bristol's floating harbour in Prince Street.
Now more than 300 campaigners have signed a petition calling for this important commuter route to remain car-free when the original bridge reopens as Eric Booth told us.
The Grade 2 listed swing bridge was closed last August for repairs originally expected to take six months, but which now won't be completed till this Autumn at a cost of more than a million pounds.
The city council's approved a plan to maintain the mix of traffic on one side, pedestrians and cyclists on the other - and according to Conservative members like Cllr John Goulandris, that's how it should remain.
The closure of the bridge - due to corrosion - has been blamed for traffic congestion elsewhere, in a city with relatively few crossing places on its historic harbour.
