Meet Jim: the longest serving postman in the West

Another day at work for postman Jim Cooper - sorting the mail before he goes out on the rounds.

Except this day is a bit different. It marks his 40th year working for the post office.

And there's a surprise for him - he's being handed an award for his commitment.

His daughter Emily, a 4th generation postie herself after he great grandfather started the family tradition, says she's proud of her father's long service in the job he loves.

Jim is delivering to a community he knows well, among them is his own mum - where's there always time for a quick cuppa.

And his family aren't short of compliments either...

After 40 years the postie - who is known for wearing shorts all year - greets everyone with a smile.

But, despite his long service, he says he has no plans to hang up the shorts just yet.
