Scarlett Keeling's mother unsure trial of two men in Goa will mean justice

The mother of a North Devon teenager who died on an Indian beach eight years ago says she is not certain justice will be served at the trial of two men accused of causing her death.

Scarlett Keeling died in February 2008 while travelling with her family in the South Indian province of Anjuna.

She had been at a Valentine's beach party but the next morning her body was found swept up on the sand with ecstasy, cocaine and LSD in her system.

The trial of two men accused of causing her death is due to resume in August.

But the trial in Goa has already been beset with delays including a change of prosecutor and an Indian legal process that has contributed constant delays.

Local men Samson D'Souza and Placido Carvaliho are accused of causing 15-year-old Scarlett's death after allegedly plying her with drugs, sexually assaulting her and leaving her unconscious on Anjuna beach where she drowned.

Fiona MacKeown - Scarlett's mother - has always argued her daughter was murdered, even though the two men are accused of manslaughter.
