Every frontline officer in the Avon and Somerset force area will be issued with a body camera a part of their uniform.

It's being described as a major step forward in modern day policing and will be in use every day to gather evidence, cut down on paperwork and streamline the court process.

This is evidence filmed by police wearing cameras soon to be used in Avon and Somerset.

One of the 2,300 officers who's getting one told ITV News the difference it will make to his job.

People like this whose previous disregard for the law may just be tempered next time.

Police insist no privacy right will be breached and the former magistrate, Police & Crime Commissioner Sue Mountstevens, who signed off the million pound deal deal insists it's money very well spent.

Where and when they're used is at the officers' discretion but in the fight against crime this small piece of kit is expected to bring big results.
