Tom Daley reveals he almost quit diving
Plymouth diver Tom Daley has revealed he almost gave up the sport after the last Olympics.
The 22 year-old said he came close to quitting after being haunted by a dive that went wrong. He was competing in the men's 10m platform event in the London 2012 Olympics when a crucial twist dive went wrong.
He lost the dive in mid-air after being distracted by camera flashes, and had to retake the dive.
Daley told the Times magazine he had to seek professional help.
Daley was treated by a sports psychologist for post-traumatic stress disorder. But he credits his relationship with fiance Dustin Lance Black with keeping him going.
The pair revealed their engagement with a traditional wedding announcement in October 2015, two years after Daley came out to his fans in a YouTube video.
Daley is due to compete in the men's 10 metre and 10 metre synchronised events at the Rio Olympics next month.
