What life is like for Bristol's boat-dwellers

Bristol Harbour is home to dozens of houseboats, with some people living on board permanently.

The city council leases residential berths for up to 25 years, and there is a long waiting list.

Boat-dwellers do not pay council tax, though they do have to pay a mooring fee. And while most boats have central heating, residents do have to remember to top up their electricity, diesel and empty their water tanks.

So what makes someone swap solid ground for a life on the water? Caron Bell has been to find out:
