Inquest hears how 12 year old was killed in freak accident

The family of a 12 year old boy who died following an incident at a Devon football club have been hearing harrowing details at an inquest into his death.>Oliver Croker was killed while watching his older brother play football at Bradninch Football Club near Exeter last year.>An anchor which was holding a fence post in place struck Oliver in the head after it came loose and ricocheted through the air.

An inquest heard Oliver Croker suffered devastating head wounds in the incident and died two days later in hospital.

His heartbroken older brother, Liam Hole relived the horror as his statement of the incident was read out at the inquest at Exeter’s County Hall.

The 26 year old had come as a substitute in a cup game between his Bampton side playing at Bradninch in mid Devon last September.

The inquest is due to last two days.
