Explosion blows roof off dry cleaners shop

The roof has been blown off a dry cleaners in Gloucestershire after a suspected arson attack.

The blaze broke out at one o'clock this morning, 11 July, at the premises on Canonbury Street in Berkeley.

Local people say they heard an explosion and smelt smoke. Five fire engines rushed to the scene but they couldn't prevent extensive damage to the top floor of the shop and that of a curry house next door.

The building was empty at the time and no-one was hurt. The fire service says the cause is suspicious and it is carrying out a joint investigation with the police.
