Parents 'frustrated' by case reports from Bristol Children's Hospital
Parents whose children died after heart surgery at Bristol Children's Hospital say they're frustrated by new reports into their cases.
11 children with heart problems died unexpectedly in two years.
An overall review of the hospital's cardiac service is due out tomorrow. In the meantime, families have been given individual reports.
Among them was four month old Lacey-Marie Poton. She was born with heart defects and Downs syndrome, and died in 2013.
At her inquest the coroner said there was no clear reason for her sudden deterioration - but the new report lists different possible causes, many of which her parents had not heard of before.
The Bristol Review was designed to give clarity to families like the Potons.
It was set up by NHS England after the deaths of eleven children in two years - all of them had had heart surgery at Bristol Children's Hospital between 2012 and 2014.
Tomorrow sees the publication of a full Review into cardiac services at Bristol Children's Hospital, examining what happened between 2010 to 2014.
The Review won't blame individuals for any failings, but will look instead at systemic problems.
The hospital Trust that runs Bristol Children's Hospital is not commenting on the individual reports, but has offered to meet privately with parents to address their concerns.
