Woman's personal account of dyslexia wins national award

A woman's personal account of her battle with dyslexia has won her a prestigious a national award organised in partnership with ITV.

25-year-old Maz Cope, from Frome, teamed up with ITV West Country to shine a light on the issue of adult dyslexia and how it can often go undiagnosed.

Her story, which involved a return trip to the University of Gloucestershire where her symptoms were first spotted, took runner-up prize in the Breaking into News Awards, run by the Media Trust and supported by ITV News and ITN.

Judges told Maz they were impressed with the way she simply but powerfully explained the condition to a wider audience. Her report will be broadcast on ITV West Country soon.
