Violence broke out in the centre of Bristol today as over a hundred so-called anti-fascists clashed with police.

They had gathered to protest against an anti-immigration march.

Hundreds of police lined the streets, but despite their best efforts, and a steel cordon, they could not keep the two sides apart.

Our camera was one of the victims:

The Bristol Anti-Fascists' protest had been timed to coincide with a march and rally by the South West Infidels, who oppose immigration.

The march, along Hotwell Road to College Green, did take place but with significant disruption. Public Order Notices designed to keep the two sides apart were breached by some of the anti-fascist protesters.

In the end the anti-immigration rally on College Green involved around 20 people. Opposition protesters numbered well into the hundreds.
