Bees swarm in Bristol City Centre

A swarm of bees caused a buzz in Bristol's busy Corn Street today.

Up to 20,000 of the insects chose to land on a lamp post outside the Bristol Register Office - causing some interest but mostly consternation as passers-by made themselves scarce.

A beekeeper called to the scene said he thought the bees had flown down from hives on top of the Corn Exchange.

The video shows him climbing a ladder to remove the Queen bee and used smoke to deal with the rest of the swarm.
