NICK BLACKWELL: 'Eubank can't give me his belt'
Former boxing champion Nick Blackwell has laughed off Chris Eubank Junior's offer to give back the British middleweight belt that he took off him in March.
The gesture was made on Good Morning Britain after Eubank Junior admitted that he'd ended the Trowbridge boxer's career.
The 26-year-old was defending himself after the Trowbridge boxer criticised him for holding a press conference whilst he was still in a coma.
But speaking to ITV News West Country Sports Correspondent Matthias Kurth, Blackwell said it isn't Eubank's belt to give away because he hasn't defended the title three times and that, consequently, it represents little more than a publicity stunt.
Blackwell was placed into an induced coma after his bout with Eubank Junior was stopped.
Blackwell collapsed shortly afterwards and initially flatlined in the ambulance before doctors discovered a bleed on his skull. He came out of the induced come a week later without requiring surgery.
The 25- year-old remains critical of Eubank Junior and his father's decision to hold a press conference in the immediate aftermath. Blackwell says his family and promoter "begged" the Eubanks not to proceed with his recovery still hanging in the balance.
He now wants to meet Eubank Junior in private to understand why and to get some direct answers.
