Plants that smell like rotting flesh in Cornwall
One of the smelliest plants on the planet has bloomed at Cornwall's Eden Project.
The Titan Arum (Amorphophallus titanum) is also known as the Corpse Flower.
The shots of the plant at night show it giving off gases which smell like a rotting corpse!
The reason for the stench is attracting insects which will spread the plant's pollen. Bugs that feed on dead animals or lay their eggs in rotting meat are drawn to the plant.
It flowers for just two days when it can grow three or four inches each hour.In the wild it's native only to Sumatra in Indonesia.
The foul smell shouldn't put people off going to see the plant, cultivators at the Eden Project say it's a rare opportunity:
