The mother of a boy who was killed by sepsis, says a meeting with the Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt went well today.

Melissa Mead, from Penryn in Cornwall, lost her son William after medics repeatedly failed to spot that he had sepsis.

The report into his death found that there were sixteen missed opportunities to save his life in the care he received.

Melissa met with Jeremy Hunt for a second time, urging him to help raise awareness of the condition that killed her son.

She says she saw a different side to the Health Secretary and is confident he will give his support to her campaign:

Mrs Mead, 29, first met with Mr Hunt in February to see where improvements could be made in care for people with sepsis.

She says progress is being made but Public Health England need to make the planned public awareness campaign clearer in order to avoid confusion between meningitis and sepsis.
