Wiltshire Police and Crime Commissioner Election: Meet the candidates
The flag has flown proudly over Wiltshire for nearly 200 years. It's the oldest force in the country. But will there even be a county force for much longer? A small constabulary means small budgets that are shrinking.
The biggest challenge is money, or a lack of it. There have been deep cuts at the Devizes HQ year on year for the last few years.
The Chief Constable says for the force to remain viable it must forge better relationships with other organisations like councils or neighbouring forces - or it will be forced to merge with Avon and Somerset.
CONSERVATIVE - ANGUS MACPHERSON
Tory Angus Macpherson is Wiltshire's first PCC. He says new style policing has helped balance budgets.
LABOUR - KEVIN SMALL
The Labour opposition, Kevin Small, sounds as if he's on the same page.
LIB DEMS - DR BRIAN MATHEW
Lib Dems Dr Brian Mathew is an expert at dealing in places with no money - he was an aid worker. Closer to home, he says he has the answers.
UKIP - JOHN SHORT
And UKIP? Candidate John Short doesn't like the idea of Britain in Europe, or Wiltshire in some sort of super force.
Financing police these days is tough. There are challenges and choices. Voters will have their choice on May the 5th
