Torquay target one win for survival
Torquay United are preparing for a season-defining game. Despite the gravity there are no signs of nerves, and the team exudes the confidence that a run of three wins from four games produces.
But it was a very different story just two months ago. In mid-February, the Gulls were bottom of the table, 12 points from safety and seemingly doomed to relegation.
Fast forward 14 games and Torquay have picked up 27 points, representing promotion form and catapulting the club to 17th position. They need just one more win to stay up.
Midfielder Luke Young had this to say:
Torquay's run of form has been incredible.
Since hitting rock bottom back in February, they've crammed in 14 league games and won eight.
They also embarked on an eight-game unbeaten run and now Tuesday's win over Altrincham means the job is almost done.
With plans in place for a new stadium and takeover talks involving new investment at an advanced stage, a turbulent season in the 117-year history of Torquay United could end on a real high.
And the party could start at 5 o'clock in Bromley if the Gulls get the victory they need.
