Hospital staff are asking to people wanting to visit patients in Torbay's local hospitals to 'visit responsibly' to help reduce the spread of flu and norovirus.>The NHS Trust which runs Torbay Hospital and nine community hospitals says it's only had to close one bay and one ward across the region, but that people should stay away for at least 48 hours if they are feeling unwell or have any flu-like symptoms, vomiting, or diarrhoea.

Dr Selina Hoque, Director of Infection Prevention and Control at Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust said they currently have an increase in the fly circulating in the community.

The trust emphasise that for hospital patients, who can often be more vulnerable due to existing illness or injury, the viruses can have a more serious impact on their health.
