Eddie the Eagle joins stars on the red carpet for premiere of his biopic
All the eyes of Hollywood were on a humble builder from Gloucestershire as a film about his life was premiered in London.
The last time Eddie the Eagle Edwards has this much attention was when he competed in the Calgary Winter Olympics in 1988 against all odds. He came last but his efforts won a huge place in the hearts of the world.
Now a feature film starring Taron Egerton as Eddie, and Hugh Jackman as his coach, is expected to sweep the box office.
Egerton plays unlikely British ski-jumper Michael "Eddie" Edwards in the fiolm, while Jackman stars as his reluctant, heavy-drinking fictional coach Bronson Peary.
We caught up with Eddie the Eagle earlier this week at his home near Stroud and he told us how pleased he was with the movie of his life.
Edwards soared to fame when he finished last at the Calgary Winter Olympics in 1988. He attracted huge public support for his unorthodox approach and determination to succeed against all odds. >The 52-year-old is targeting a ski-jumping return on the International Masters Tour, having jumped for the first time in 19 years in France, in January.
