Bath decides not to ban busking on city's streets
A solution's been found to the row over Bath buskers using amplifiers. There were concerns that performers were too loud, especially near the Abbey. >Following a public consultation the council has decided to target individuals causing problems, rather than introducing an outright ban of busking.
Steve Robinson has been a busker for 32 years. He knows many of the hundreds of performers who come here, and with his and their help, the council has drawn up a code of conduct with warnings before a possible ban for anyone who is too loud.
Loud amplification reached a head when choral evensong at Bath Abbey had to be abandoned.
Bath has thousands of busking performances a year and tourists love them.
The Abbey hopes turning the other ear will bring harmony for everyone.
