Somerset Cricket legend Martin Crowe dies
The former Somerset County Cricket Club batsman and New Zealand captain Martin Crowe has died, aged 53, after a battle with cancer.
His family announced on Thursday morning that he passed away in Auckland, after being diagnosed with terminal cancer in 2014.
Crowe arrived in the South West in 1984 and after a relatively quiet start he soon became widely accepted as one of New Zealand's best batsmen.
He forced his way into the national side after a series of centuries for Somerset, and in 1988 he returned to his country where he set several batting records.
