Hundreds advised to keep using tumble dryers despite fire risk
ITV News can reveal hundreds of people in the West are still waiting for their potentially life-threatening tumble dryers to be repaired by manufacturers.
Despite being highlighted as 'potentially dangerous' - owners of faulty Hotpoint, Creda and Indesit machines are still waiting for engineers to inspect and repair their devices.
One family from Gloucestershire have relegated their Hotpoint tumble dryer to this dark corner - afraid it might burst into flames. In November, the company admitted certain machines had a fault - causing many to catch fire.
This family first noticed a problem when they smelt burning.
Now, Michelle Pugh refuses to use it because she's 'too scared'. She's worried it's a danger to her children. But Michelle has the same concerns as many other families.
Charity Electrical Safety First, and fire services are warning home owners to avoid using appliances that have been recalled.
It made the appeal after Whirlpool, who own the brands Hotpoint, Indesit and Creda, said it was safe to use their products as long as they weren't left unattended, were regularly cleaned and well ventilated.
