Figures released by the RNLI show that Weston volunteers launched 48 times, and saved 13 lives, beating every other station in the UK.

Of the 48 launches, 29 people were also assisted.

The region's other stations were not far behind, with Minehead launching 41 times - assisting 19 and saving one, while Burnham-on-Sea launched 32 - assisting 15 and also saving one.
