New hope for Heidi Loughlin
There may finally be some good news for cancer sufferer Heidi Loughlin.
The police officer, who has an aggressive form of breast cancer suffered heart break before Christmas when her daughter Ally - born prematurely so she could begin treatment - tragically died at just eight days old.
But now, however, Heidi says it appears her treatment is working, and she is hopeful of a final happy ending.
A new scan has revealed Heidi has nodules on her lung but there is no indication the cancer has spread.
She said although her prognosis was still "not great", she was absolutely determined to "live this out".
Speaking openly about the decision to have baby Ally prematurely - and her death just a week later - the mum said the day after she decided to come home from the hospital she received a phone call Ally was not doing well.
Heidi says the death of her daughter was "the most devastating" thing she has ever had to go through - and has been the hardest part of her journey so far.
But, she added, she has no regrets about going through with the pregnancy.
The mum-of-two said she was covered in guilt following the death of her daughter, but was determined to take Ally with her throughout her life.
The inspiring mum had one last thing to say about her cancer.
