Mother who fought anorexia furious after son branded overweight

A mother from Bath whose anorexia was triggered by a school nurse calling her overweight says she is furious her four-year-old son has suffered the same fate after a school test.

Emily McKenzie developed the severe eating disorder as a teenager after being told by a school nurse she was overweight.

Her son Jack has now been given the same treatment but Emily says he is a normal and healthy weight.

Ms. Mckenzie dropped to just 3st and 10lbs ater starving herself for a period of 15 years. She is now a normal weight and encourages children to have a healthy relationship to their bodies.

But when Jack, who attends Widcombe Infant School, was measured as part of a government monitoring programme, he was found to be overweight.

She says he is a normal weight and will now begin a campaign to find a different way of measuring children.
