Woman gives up her bed at 'manic' Yeovil hospital

Instead of being cared for at hospital, Jo Niinemae is recovering at her home near Glastonbury after having a knee operation on Monday.

When she arrived she was told the procedure may not happen at all as there were no beds at Yeovil District Hospital.

After the operation Jo says the hospital was so busy, she felt the best option was to discharge herself and recover at home.

The 52 year old doesn't criticise the care she received but says nursing staff were pushed to their limits.
