New drug gives renewed hope to cancer sufferer
A cancer sufferer from Cornwall who was given just three months to live has been given new hope of a cure thanks to a drugs trial.
Jan Hornsby who lives in Par was diagnosed with Hodgkin Lymphoma in 2001, which spread to several areas of her body.
Shortly after she was told she had terminal cancer, the 49-year-old took part in a trial of a new drug and it had an instant affect.
Jan says the new drug has reduced her cancer by 70%.
She says it shows the importance of research into the disease and gives hope to fellow sufferers.
Jan is backing Cancer Research UK's Right Now campaign which funds research into the disease.
Dr Alan Worsley from Cancer Research UK spoke to ITV West Country about the new drug that Jan's been taking.
This year Jan will undergo a stem cell transplant at Derriford Hospital in Plymouth which it's hoped will cure her of the disease.
