'Really loud bangs' heard on street with ongoing police siege
"Loud bangs" were heard on a Bristol street where armed police are still in a standoff with a man refusing to leave a house.
There may be weapons at the house on Park Road, a street in Stapleton which has been evacuated, and cordoned off since yesterday evening. However police say they do not believe there are firearms or explosives in the property.
Local resident Sarah Darby told us she and her young daughter heard "a series really loud bangs" last night, and saw ambulances and incident vehicles along the road - but also said police have not been telling residents anything.
The man inside the house has allegedly made threats to kill, however here is not believed to be anyone else in there with him.
Trained negotiators are working with a mental health crisis team and emergency services to try and ensure the man's safety and end the siege. The road has been cordoned off since last night, and some of its residents evacuated from their homes "as a precaution".
Park Road from the Broom Hill junction to the Duchess Way/Brinkworthy Road junction, as well as part of Grove View, are likely stay closed off until the siege has ended.
People are being advised to avoid the area - though police say they don't believe there's a risk to the wider public.
